Nowhere in the human body do physicians use osteotomies more often than in foot and ankle surgery. As foot and ankle surgeons, we are required to be proficient in power cutting instrumentation, deformity realignment, and fixation.

In this issue of the Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, we attempt to cover a wide variety of osteotomy techniques used today in foot and ankle surgery. Our goal is to enhance the reader's understanding of the appropriate indications for the use of these techniques and to share technique “pearls” for direct application. These osteotomies are used to treat a wide variety of foot and ankle pathologies commonly seen today.

It has been my honor to serve as Guest Editor of this issue. I hope you will find this assembly of fine articles enhances your understanding of this powerful surgical technique.
